Babywearing Resources
- TheBabywearer.com (TBW) is THE online destination for all babywearing information. It has articles, reviews and tremendously helpful forums. There are some great informational links on their homepage for beginners. Also, check out the mentoring program forum if you need some help finding your way around. Please not that you will need to create a free account with TBW in order to access any of their chat forums (including the mentoring program).
- Babywearing International is a non-profit group whose mission is to promote babywearing as a universally accepted practice.
Other New Parent Resources
- Also check out Metro West Babies: a Postpartum Resource List which has a very comprehensive list of support services across MA (not only metro west).
Where to Shop Guide
BBW does not recommend any one brand or any one retailer. But since its helpful to have suggestions on where to start, here are some places we've gotten donations from and had good experiences with. Since we are not associated with these stores, please confirm our information is up to date before heading out. And don't forget to check directly with the company for the brand you want. Sometimes they have specials or custom carriers not sold by retailers.
Local Businesses
Online Retailers
Also, if you are a savvy online shopper and/or on a tight budget, buying a used carrier is often a great way to go, especially for woven wraps, which just get better the more they are washed, worn and loved. Registration is needed for most of these sites, but they all are free and have great info too. We have no connection to any of these sites, please choose your buyer or seller carefully and use comment sense. Check feedback scores and meet in public places when making transactions.
