Lending Library
Want to
try a carrier before making an investment? We have a wide variety of carriers
that you can touch, feel and experience at every meeting and our leaders are
here to answer questions, give advice and help teach you the proper way to use
each carrier. If you want
more practice you can even take a carrier home to test out and get a real
chance to use it. Then you simply return it at before the next meeting. If you loved
it, you can find one of your own, if not, you can always try out another style
or brand from the library. We do require that a cash or check deposit is left
for each carrier borrowed. Our
group is supported by donations and your $5 suggested donation allows us to
maintain and update the library as needed.
Please note, carriers are now due back before the next meeting. If you choose to return a carrier AT the next meeting, you may, but it needs to be returned by 10:15 am to ensure that we have enough carriers for members to try at meetings. We may charge a $20 late fee for any carriers not returned on time. If you pay your deposit by check, the entire check will be cashed and the remaining balance will be mailed to you upon return of the carrier in good condition. Carriers will now be checked out only after 11:30 am for the reasons mentioned above. Please see the librarian and complete paperwork to borrow a carrier as soon as you make your decision, but please do not remove the carrier from the library.

Information for Current Borrowers
Your child’s safety is your responsibility
Always check for signs of wear and tear before putting on the carrier. Follow instructions carefully. Pay attention to your child’s airway, especially with newborns. Above all, use common sense: if you’re not sure what you’re doing is safe, don’t take a chance. Read through the Babywearing Basics section of our site for the type of carrier you are borrowing. If you’re still having trouble, please post on our Yahoo Group or email library@bostonbabywearers.com.
Washing your carrier
Before returning the carrier, you are required to wash and dry it using a fragrance-free, baby-safe detergent. For SSCs, spot cleaning only is sufficient unless the carrier is significantly dirty. Please wash the carrier separately in cold water on gentle cycle (or hand wash), then hang to dry. Spot clean any stains before washing. Do not use bleach. Do not dry clean. If you have any questions, please email library@bostonbabywearers.com before washing.
Returning your carrier
If you are unable to return your carrier at the regular monthly meeting, please email library@bostonbabywearers.com to make alternate arrangements. If you will be returning your carrier by mail, please make sure that you send it in enough time for it to arrive by the due date. We require Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation be used for any carriers returned by mail.
