               Boston Babywearers

              BBW Leaders

Did you know that all of our leaders are volunteers and we donate our time to run this group? We all have kids at home and lives of our own, but we are dedicated to the cause and get excited to share the love of babywearing. Thanks so much to all that help us grow!

I am a Mom to a boy in kindergarten and to a girl about to walk. I learned to wrap my son when he was about 8 months from a BBW friend, and so began my romance with carriers. I decided to become a leader because I love wearing my kids & enjoy learning different ways to carry them comfortably.  I want to share that feeling of connection with others.

I am a SAHM of two (7 and 4) living in Winchester, MA and started babywearing before they were born.

My first carry? A thirty-pound Corgi in a Maya ring sling! I was hooked, needless to say. I joined Boston Babywearers before my second son was born and have been a leader since 2008.

I'm a SAHM to Jack, born in May 2011. I wore him a few times early on in a Bjorn when carrying his car seat or pushing the stroller just wouldn't work, but quickly found that we needed something more comfortable for both of us. I heard about Boston Babywearers, went to my first meeting when Jack was about 6 weeks old, and became a quick Mei Tai convert. Since then we've used lots of different mai tais and SSCs. I got involved to help with International Babywearing Week 2011, and became a leader shortly after.

I sew frequently and have made a mai tai, plus carrier bags and covers, so if you have a babywearing sewing question, send it my way!

I'm a SAHM to Romana, born in spring 2010 and worn shortly thereafter! We started out with a hand-me-down stretchy wrap that has been through five or six babies and have now managed to acquire a whole mini-library of different types of carrier. Living in Somerville, it's much easier to wear her than use a stroller, and I've babyworn all over the country. I've been a leader since 2010.

I am a SAHM of three (9, 5, 2 yrs) living in Waltham, MA. I didn't find babywearing until my youngest child. I tried a bjorn with my older two, but that was only occasionally during the newborn stage. I didn't even know anything else existed! I think most families are like that and that's why I'm so glad that we are here to help. I became a Boston Babywearers leader in 2010.

I am a SAHM to Coraline (Oct '09) and Arya (Oct '11). During my first pregnancy I read all I could about natural and attachment parenting, in an attempt to educate myself properly for my new job. Somewhere along the way I was introduced to the wonders of babywearing. I put a stretchy wrap carrier on my registry and it all started from there. Unfortunately for us, once Coraline Mae came along she was quick to let me know that she hated that stretchy wrap. Since her first days home we have been a babywearing family! I became a leader in 2010.

I'm a SAHM to Mie. I first noticed babywearing when I was living in Tokyo. I saw parents wearing babies everyday, which made great sense in a big city with unbelievably crowded public transportation!  I started wearing Mie in a stretchy wrap when she was 2 days old. Mie loves being worn by my husband and I. Our family agrees that our baby carriers were the best pieces of baby gear that we bought!

I'm a WOHM to Jesse, born in November 2010. I love babywearing
because it's so much easier for me to get around in the snow or on the
T wearing Jesse than with a stroller, and I love that I can easily and
discreetly nurse him wherever we happen to be. We started out with a
stretchy wrap, and now that he is bigger I love to wear him in lots of
              different types of carriers.

I am a SAHM to my son Ethan, enjoying all the firsts that come along with new babies. I started baby wearing to try to sooth my fussy baby. It soon became a fun and convenient way to transport baby. It was at a meeting that I got to see lots of babies all together for the first time. It was so much fun seeing all the new (and experienced) moms out there that were just like me. I started going to all the meetings and decided to help out and become a leader.

As Librarian, I handle all the logistics of the lending library so let me know if you have any questions or if there is a particular carrier you want to try.
